2nd IBRN Forum (2019)

Driving Research Priorities: Blast Injury & Protection Research Forum

Following our successful launch workshop in March 2019, the University of Southampton and University of Cape Town held the 2nd IBRN Research Forum on 18-19 November 2019. This event built on the launch workshop with a broader, global scope, considering the multidisciplinary research challenges associated with explosive violence, landmines and other emerging blast threats. The event aimed to raise awareness of civilian harm, characterise and define the key health and engineering challenges and knowledge gaps relating to blast injuries and protection. This event also aimed to identify practical opportunities for future work, form collaborations and gather ideas to develop collaborative research proposals through round-table discussions and group activities. The IBRN would like to thank the following organisations for their sponsorship:

  • The Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF)

  • The Clinical Informatics Research Unit (CIRU)

  • South Africa's National Research Foundation (NRF)
